Hunt Meadows Elementary, Easley, SC

The author and his wife Madeline gave three presentations on the
book, Stalk Eyes to first-grade classes at Hunt Meadows Elementary in Easley, SC on May 2, 2019. The School Counselor coordinated the three back-to-back presentations. Each presentation included an introduction on Sand Crabs by the author, followed by the book reading of Stalk Eyes by his wife who is a retired elementary school teacher. Fun props highlighted information about Stalk Eyes who is a special type of Sand Crab called a Fiddler Crab!  These included a large poster of Stalk Eyes dressed in his school crossing guard uniform, and an enlarged photo of an actual male Fiddler Crab with his one large claw and special eyes on tall stalks. At the conclusion of the presentation, a real Fiddler Crab encased in a small epoxy block, was passed around to curious eyes! The author presented each class signed copies of both the storybook and coloring book. Copies of both downloadable coloring pages from this website as well as Stalk Eyes stick-on nametags, as worn by the author and his wife, were given to each student for future fun activities in class or at home. It was a presentation filled with mystery, education, and fun! Stalk Eyes was a hit!
